Editor's Review

One half of this space is a gallery showcasing fine art, and the other half sells a mix of kitschy Rockford souvenirs and artsy objects.
Opened in 1986, this shop was one of the early entries in the rejuvenation of Main Street. A gift shop on the first floor sells a mix of kitsch and art, with Rockford-centric items galore, including memorabilia connected with an odd Rockford phenomenon--the sock monkey. (Workers at Nelson's Knitting Factory in Rockford started making sock monkeys after the demand for knitted socks dwindled.) If you're looking for sock-monkey banks, clocks, watches, ornaments and dolls, this is the place. The second floor is a gallery showcasing work by artists from the Rockford areas. Recent exhibits included paintings, assemblages and beaded mosaic sculptures.
