At the Lincoln Square restaurant Chalkboard, there's no need for menus. The many daily offerings are written on a wall-sized chalkboard, with owner-Chef Gilbert Langlois making changes nightly. A veteran of popular Chicago eateries Rushmore and SushiSamba Rio, Langlois uses seasonal and organic ingredients in contemporary American comfort food, such as Indiana farm-raised duck with chorizo; forest mushroom and white bean cassoulet; and a vegetable pie with fennel and curried peas. The wine list features selections from around the globe, including Midwest vintners. Reservations required. Closed on Tuesdays.
