This out-of-the way stop gives an authentic look into Amish life.
No tourist trap here, Yoder's Amish House feels like you are visiting your distant cousin's family farm. Barnyard animals are everywhere--farm dogs romping, rooster's crowing, and ducks waddling. Yoder's large red barn was built in 1885 and has hand-hewn beams, while the two houses on the farm are from the 1800s and 1900s. Guides take you through the different outbuildings explaining the Amish lifestyle and customs as they go. Tours always end in the kitchen, where fresh, baked-at-the-farm cookies, breads and fry pies are for sale. After the walking tour, end your visit with a buggy ride around the farm where the knowledgeable drivers can answer any lingering questions you may have. Prices for an afternoon of wholesome country fun are really reasonable: Adults, $11 for the tour and buggy ride; children, $7.
