High-end furniture and accessories fill this longstanding antiques shop.
A redbrick home provides the perfect setting for an array of 18th- and 19th-century furniture at this Alton antiques store, which has been in business for more than 30 years. Dining sets, grandfather clocks, armoires, secretaries, wing chairs and bureaus fill the high-ceiling rooms. The prices may limit the amount of time casual browsers want to spend here: Dining room tables, for example, can run a couple thousand dollars, along with another $1,500 or so for four chairs. Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Sheraton are among the styles shown. Interspersed among the furniture are a number of accessory items, such as Oriental rugs, china, ceramics and paintings. A new Folk Art Room carries fun, affordable housewares, old signs and other merchandise in the price range of casual antiques shoppers.
