This cultural offering in an urban park showcases Native American artistic expression.
The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art demonstrates how diverse artistic expression can be. People expecting to see traditional images of Native Americans at powwows or hunting will not be disappointed; but visitors might be surprised by the images of dogs dancing in poodle skirts, a sculpture of a medicine man in a seizure and a Native American warrior painted into a traditional European image of the Greek god Hercules. The works share one thing in common--a tribute to Native American culture. Plan to spend about 90 minutes admiring the works. And, on your way out, check out the gift shop, which is filled with handcrafted turquoise jewelry, handmade Navajo rugs, books and Native American music. Admission charged.
