This upscale American bistro's attention to detail provides a fine-dining experience with a small-town feel.
Common Grill focuses on local, quality food and impeccable service. The American bistro-style menu is filled with local, in-season selections and a variety of seafood. Highlights include chicken from Gunthorp Farm and beef from Niman Ranch, both of which are committed to naturally raised animals. We tried such varied options as crispy parmesan portabella fries and pear and Gorgonzola green salad -- both were delicious. Entrees range from $23 to $30. On theater nights, Common Grill is particularly busy, so be sure to show up early. If you have tickets to a show, be sure to let staff know. They are particularly sensitive to theatergoers and will let you know whether you can enjoy your meal and still make the show on time. The restaurant doesn't take reservations for parties of fewer than six. The Common Grill resides in an old department store allowing history to plays a key role in the dining atmosphere. Midwestern theme murals painted by a local artist; distressed paintings on the wall; heavy, dark wood furniture; brick walls and a tin ceiling are all prominently displayed in this upscale American bistro.
