The spacious, hip Cambria Suites offers more than you'd expect from a chain hotel.
This was a brand-new hotel in 2009, but if the tasteful decor is any indication, it will continue to feel fresh, clean and upscale. The rooms are lovely and modern, with two big-screen TVs; a small sofa; desk; refrigerator; microwave; large bathroom with thick, fluffy towels; wireless Internet with remote printing; and artwork that someone took some care in selecting. There's a hip, urban vibe here that defies the chain hotel stereotype, and it's conveniently located near the airport -- the only downside is that it's not on the water, arguably Traverse City's best asset. Downstairs, the pool and fitness area are impressive, and the lobby has several sleek computers for those not hanging out by the large stone fireplace. The restaurant (affiliated with Wolfgang Puck) is open until late, providing three meals daily and a full bar. Everything we tried was delicious, and the family at the next table was going nuts over the mac-and-cheese.
