Grass-fed burgers and creamy shakes are the specialties at this 50s-style family restaurant.
Pedal Pushers Cafe is dedicated to locally grown foods, with 100-percent grass-fed beef, veggies from local farms, and milk and cream from a nearby dairy. There's no high-fructose corn syrup or trans fat in anything on the menu, but there is a festive 50s atmosphere in this old-fashioned burger and malt shop. Burger options are varied, such as the Good Golly Miss Molly burger ($8.99) topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms and Brie; and the Bleu Moon ($8.99) topped with sauteed mushrooms, bacon and homemade blue cheese dressing. Unfortunately, we found the patties to be a bit bland and the toppings meager. Good concept, so-so execution. The sides were much better: fresh-cut, skin-on fries and hand-battered onion rings. And the rich, creamy shakes have a healthy heaping of kitchen-whipped cream on the top. We'd swing by just for those. Pedal Pusher's is open for breakfast, too, with Sturdiwheat pancakes and omelets on the menu. And the atmosphere is laid-back, so don't be afraid to wander in here after a hard day biking the Root River Trail.
