This award-winning Chinese restaurant snagged its most recent honor when its owners were named 2008 Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association's Restaurateurs of the Year. The hot City Market spot is their sixth location, and its highlight is the patio seating overlooking the farmers market. Bo Ling's specializes in Mandarin, Szechuan, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes, and is open for both lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is spacious yet cozy, with river rock columns. The menu is reasonably priced and plentiful, boasting appetizers, dumplings, soups, pork and beef dishes, house specialties, seafood, poultry, noodles, rice, vegetable and tofu dishes, plus lighter fare and a full children's menu. Bo Ling's also offers a wine list (by the glass and bottle) and bubble tea. The hand-wrapped dumplings are especially tasty, with large chunks of shrimp or ground pork and soft, lightly fried dough--not at all greasy. The lunch offerings are a sure bet, each entre ($8-$12) served with egg drop soup, crab Rangoon, and steamed white, brown, or vegetable rice.
