A new huge water park with reasonable rates awaits families heading to Branson.
Opened in March 2009, Castle Rock Resort and Waterpark is an ideal place to stay for kids needing a spot to get the wiggles out. The building's exterior is fairly plain, but the inside is what counts here. The resort offers a 30,000-square-foot, four-story indoor water park heated to 84 degrees year-round. The park's main level includes a lap pool, a zero-depth entry pool that's ideal for babies and toddlers, plus watering trees, a small island cave and two 500-gallon tipping buckets that sound a loud horn before they spill. A lazy river curls around a second-floor level of the park, which many of the rooms look out onto. A fenced-in area on one end connects to the Tower restaurant, which is heavy on deep-fried, kid-friendly foods and welcomes diners in swimwear. All of the rooms and suites have bunk beds in little cabins, each equipped with a flat-screen TV (parents get their own flat-screen, too). A mini-fridge and coffee maker also come standard in each room; the suites each include a dining set and a sofa. An on-site activities director plans dancing in the hallways before bedtime. This is not a spot for a romantic weekend getaway. What we love about this hotel is the value. Rooms run $99 to $199 per night, and one nightly rate allows guests two days of access in the water park. Those rates are significantly lower than similar water parks throughout the Midwest.
