Sioux Falls two-day getaway

Day 1
In Falls Park, the Big Sioux River tumbles over nearly a half mile of waterfalls. A five-story tower offers the best views, and overlooks line a scenic walkway. Enjoy juicy burgers and great views while dining at Falls Overlook Cafe in the park.
From there, a free trolley ferries passengers to Phillips Avenue to wander among galleries and boutiques. Locals know to eat at Wild Sage Grille, where bison stars on the menu. The quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast offers restful accommodations.
Day 2
Phillips Avenue Diner serves fluffy pancakes and loaded hash browns in a retro setting with splashy neon signs. Zach’s Kayaks and Canoe Rentals is the place to gear up and get tips for a morning (or a day) of paddling past blue herons and soaring bluffs along the Big Sioux River or Split Rock Creek.
The cheesy enchiladas at Mama Lada’s Enchilada Shop and Wine Bar are perfect for lunch (or any time, really). Sertoma Butterfly House and Marine Cove gets guests up close and personal with butterflies: Nearly 800 of them call the large indoor gardens home.
