powdered sugar, sifted (4-1/2 cups)
cream of tartar
Desired color food coloring (optional)
In a medium mixing bowl combine meringue powder, water, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream of tartar. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined; beat on high speed for 7 to 10 minutes or until mixture is very stiff. Tint with food coloring, if you like. Makes 3 cups icing.
- When not using the icing, keep it covered with clear plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out.
