Make 9 Chic Holiday Accents from Felt

Take cues from Mother Nature to fashion holiday decor made from felt. Felt is low-cost, readily available and easy to use (no sewing required). Try our appliques on do-it-yourself pillows, throws and more. Links to instructions and downloadable patterns for nine holiday applique projects are in this slide show.

Wintry woods tabletop

Our first project: a seasonal table setting inspired by a pine forest. We imagined an oversize pinecone and needles on a table runner.

What you need

-- 3 yards white wool-blend felt for the runner (or enough to cover your table)
-- 3 yards brown wool-blend felt for the runner (or enough to cover your table)
-- 12x18-inch piece of brown wool-blend felt
-- 12x18-inch piece of green wool-blend felt
-- Black marker
-- Scissors
-- Fusible web (a fiber that bonds when heated)
-- Iron

Note: Suggested yardages are based on wool-blend felt with a 36-inch width. Please adjust yardages as needed.

See the next slide for instructions.
