BROYHILL We furnished our Idea Home with beautiful historic reproductions to create the English country aesthetic. We used pieces from these Broyhill furnishings collections: Yorkshire Market, Attic Heirlooms, Charlestowne Square and Village Tapestry. From traditional to contemporary, Broyhill's wide furniture selection fits almost any decorating style. (877/518-9182;
BULOVA Clocks do more than strike the hour; they strike a mood, too. We chose various sizes of clocks in wood tones to help bring a timeless, warm quality to our Idea Home interiors. Since 1875, Bulova has crafted clocks, including old-world reproductions and stylish contemporary pieces, that add sophistication and a personal statement to any room. (800/228-5682;
DELTA FAUCET For the hardworking kitchen and bath areas of Heritage Court, we chose faucets that maintain the sense of beauty, yet are deceptively durable. We liked the oil-rubbed bronze and nickel finishes of the Delta Brilliance anti-tarnish fixtures above that won't corrode or discolor. Delta has 80,000 combinations of faucet finishes and handles. (800/345-3358;
HOOVER With several types of flooring in our Idea Home, we looked for some easy maintenance solutions. We chose the Hoover EmPower upright cleaning unit for the carpeting and the Hoover Floor Mate Plus SpinScrub for the hard surfaces and hardwood floors. Since introducing its first vacuum in 1908, Hoover has been a market leader in household cleaning appliances. (800/946-2570;
JAMES HARDIE Offering good looks and durable construction, James Hardie Hardiplank siding was the perfect choice for our Idea Home. The sand-and-cement product looks like wood, but it holds paint three to four times longer. This superpower siding also resists termites, flame and nearly any kind of weather, including wind, moisture and heat. (888/542-7343;
THE JANE SEYMOUR HOME COLLECTION Bedding, lamps and other home accessories in simple, elegant patterns make up The Jane Seymour Home Collection, which was a complement to our English-style home. We used items from her Pacific Floral, Malibu Sky, Sommerset Garden and Petit Rose collections. Available exclusively at Carson Pirie Scott. (800/374-3000; www.
JENN-AIR We built a family house, but a high-performance house, too. The kitchen features the commercial style and performance of Jenn-Air Stainless Steel Pro Style appliances, such as the 42-inch built-in side-by-side refrigerator or the 48-inch gas range with six burners. Warming drawers and a stainless steel microwave oven also make entertaining easier. (800/688-1100;
LENNOX Separate air-conditioning and heating units on each floor of our home provide maximum, individualized comfort control. The Integrated Home Comfort Solution from Lennox not only offers heating and cooling, but also controls humidity and airflow throughout the home. The 38-inch gas fireplace in the master bedroom guarantees a sense of warmth. (800/953-6669;
MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS Light— lots of it— was important in our home. We used many sizes of double-hung windows to bring sunlight and elegance into each space. Marvin's made-to-order, handcrafted wood and clad-wood windows and doors are also energy efficient so they can comfortably handle the extremes of Illinois weather. (888/537-7828;
MAYTAG Our Idea Home's laundry room is state-of-the-art with Maytag's Neptune Washer and new Neptune Drying Center. The washer gives stain removal tips, conserves water and offers settings for favorite cycles. The Drying Center, on top of the standard dryer, circulates air to prevent shrinking and has motion action to reduce wrinkling. (800/688-9900;
