In Love with Japanese Irises

With big, blousy blooms that can be seen from across the yard, Japanese irises will bring a burst of color to your Midwest garden.

Two more favorite irises

One of John's favorites for Midwest growers is 'Chiyo-No-Haru' (left), a classic single-petaled beauty, with white falls and small, upright, purple petals. "We recommend planting a white variety because it stands out among the violet-colored ones," John says.

He also recommends 'Crystal Halo', calling it the best landscape iris because its bright purple-and-white falls can be seen "clear across the garden."
