Strawberry Recipes

The aroma of freshly picked strawberries is the best reason to look for locally grown varieties.

Sweet and succulent, locally grown strawberries are miles ahead of fruit shipped in from afar. If you haven't picked them yourself (a real treat for the whole family), look for berries that are fully ripe and without soft spots or mold. The stem caps, which should never be removed before you are ready to use the berries, should be bright green.

Strawberries are best the day they are picked. For short-term storage, keep berries refrigerated. Store them in a single layer, loosely covered, and refrigerate for a day or two.
