S'more Recipes to Love

Love s'mores? Try these recipes for pie, milk shakes, cookies, fondue and more based on the gooey marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker classic.

S'more fun

Stack on fillings Top graham cracker squares with a peppermint patty, a thin slice of fruit, chocolate-hazelnut spread and/or mini chips.

Bake it Assemble the s'more and bake it on a foil-lined baking pan in a 300° oven for about 5 minutes or broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for about 2 minutes. It's ready when the marshmallow is soft and the fillings are melty. Press the graham crackers together to seal the deal.

Take it to the table Looking to liven up a summer dinner party? Let your guests roast marshmallows over candles (fondue burners work great, too) on the deck or patio.

Superfast s'mores The first s'mores recipe in the 1927 Girl Scouts handbook was all about the campfire's crackle. But if pushing a few buttons is more your style, you're still in luck. Build s'mores on a microwave-safe plate then nuke 'em on high for 15 to 30 seconds or until marshmallows soften. Your graham crackers won't get soggy. Promise!

S'more tips: Graham cracker subs

Trade out the graham crackers for 3-inch cookies (chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate chip, molasses, ginger). Or use 1/2-inch-thick slices of brownie, pound cake, angel food cake, cupcakes, muffins, gingerbread or unpeeled apple.

S'more tips: Marshmallow options

Some large supermarkets carry a variety of marshmallows, from toasted coconut to caramel. We found that big, big marshmallows soften more evenly when cut in half. To find unusual flavors, like strawberry and salty caramel, look for artisanal choices at specialty food stores and candy shops. Amp up the melty goodness by using marshmallow crème.

S'more tips: Go-crazy fillings

Think outside the Hershey's bar with these options: Almost any candy bar, chocolate peanut butter cups, ice cream topping, peanut butter with banana slices, peanut butter with jelly and crushed potato chips, canned frosting with pie filling, granola with fruit preserves, sliced strawberries .... You get the idea.
